Ladies, beware of men in hat

The Amazon region is a place of unique beauty. And also unique stories.

One of them refers to the magical powers possessed by pink dolphins (yes, live and learn, pink dolphins do exist – they are born grey and become pinker with age).

Every day after the sunset, at somewhere deep in the rainforest, these bewitched animals come out of the water, take human form, and go to parties.

One must note that pink dolphins – commonly called botos – especially enjoy ballroom dancing, and waste no opportunity to sweet talk young pretty girls.

Now if you’re a decent lady who doesn’t want to take the risk of being seduced and wishes to know how to identify an actual pink dolphin, pay close attention to that essential tip. Botos are men with no brain – literally, I mean. Instead, they’ve got a breathing hole at the top of their head, which they cover up with a nice Panama hat. 

In Amazonian villages, when a single woman announces her pregnancy, she usually blames it on a mysterious boto.

Well, from what I can see, it seems that these pink dolphins have been leaving quite a few descendants over there, and apparently all the babies look undoubtedly human.

A house with no flatmates for me, please

Brazilians are very proud of their tidy, well kept houses. Like they say, Sou pobre mas sou limpinho, “I’m poor but I’m clean”.

I’ve always found that concept to be very interesting – living under challenging conditions shouldn’t be synonymous with residing in a landfill.

Indeed the Brazilians that I know, rich or poor, they all live in more hygienic environments than most of the people I’ve met in the first world. 

Water, electricity, powerful hoovers… now tell me, all that for what?

Well, perhaps it’s just time for me to move out again.

I like to read scripts, sometimes even before I watch the films. It’s a bit like reading a book before seeing its Hollywood production. I love films. And that’s why I also love to read. My bed is a director’s chair. I turn on the lamp, go through some lines and make the late Audrey Hepburn star as an Agatha Christie’s murderer. We suddenly see Audrey’s character shooting Mr. Poirot, who bends backwards to dodge the bullets. Good thing the production cost is always zero. No, I’m not a frustrated screenwriter who became a copywriter. I just love films. And love to read. And cut.
